Recreating old photos by Irina Werning

Old photos are totally sweet. This genius photographer Irina Werning started a projects where she has people recreate old photos of themselves, trying to get the same outfit, same location, same pose and face. It's really awesome. You can see more on her website.


This is one of my favorites. The Hula sisters is a good one, too.

I'm going to start looking for a picture to recreate. You should too.

    I love this because not only are the pictures beautiful, but it seems to me like the grown up person making the child expression is showing a side that is still so real and inherent to who they are as the grown-up. Looking at these pictures makes me feel like we're all getting a little window into a part of these people they might not show to everyone.
    and that makes me happy, to think that everyone really does have a part of their childhood still there (somewhere) when they grow-up.

    one of my favs is the sister laughing on the left, third down pic of hawaiian costumes.

    alice, didn't you and johnny recreate some pictures of you two in disney on your honeymoon from ones of the high school trip? also, some inspired by boy meets world?

    oh yeah we tried to but it was hard without a friend to take the picture.
