New Shoes

Hey guys!

I just made some new shoes (I make a new pair like every 6 months) and I'm so excited about them that I wanted to share them with y'all, because you're a lot of artsy craftsy people.

White cheap shoes from H&M, this time with stabilo pens (I usually do sharpie, will have to be more careful about getting caught in the rain in these). The quotes come from an e.e. cummings poem, "somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond/any experience" and "nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands".

the first day is always good luck, i like to think.

also, the procrastination of 2 huge papers has led med to discover that you can not only take pictures with photobooth on mac os, but also VIDEOS. i just recorded all of the songs i've been playing recently and have been uploading them to youtube, even though i make mistakes, the sound quality is shitty, and i've had a cold for a month.5 now. if you miss me, check them out! i guarantee either smiles or the satisfaction of knowing you could probably record a better video than me will be your reward.

Disney Magic

Working in Disney World gives you this immense feeling of being included in a magical world. Seeing behind the scenes somewhat changes how you see that world, but little things remind you.

The biggest reminder I always have are these sets of photos Annie Leibovitz has been slowly releasing for the last four years. These Disney ads still confirm that she is one of the best photographers in ever history.

Charlie Sheen speaks some wisdom

Everyone has probably heard at least something about Charlie Sheen's latest explorations into prostitutes and drugs. Here's an interview of him on ABC of him going on some crazy rants about his new sober life and his old awesome rager lifestyle. He says all sorts of brilliant things. My favorite is when he talks about how he isn't bi-polar he's bi-winning, and how "Can't is the cancer of happen".

Graffiti in Amsterdam

I'm staying with Ravi Vasudevan (my old neighbor from Westford) this week at his place in Delft, which is an hour away from Amsterdam. I spent the day in the dam yesterday, and was extremely lucky to have blue sky and not 5- Celsius weather (like today...) and really loved it. What a cool city, super pretty, really chill people, awesome places to eat, and of course, after wandering around for under 5 minutes I stumbled right into a flea market. I was going to go on a free walking tour, but too many people showed up and I didn't make it into one of the groups of 30, so I just wandered around some more before hitting up the Van Gogh museum. I walked past a series of nice graffiti and felt like sharing it, since BJK posted a graffiti one a while back.

God's Gift to Women: a George Clooney Mural.

Not to be the celebrity news correspondant, but for real, this is too bizarre not to share.

Apparently George Clooney is filming some movie (deatils, AWM?) in Cinncinatti. In an attempt to get his attention and bring people to their art gallery, some muralist painted a version of the Sistene Chapel Adam and God finger touch, featuring George's face. It's weird. Particularly that it cuts off right at his business, in a way that just draws attention to it instead of down-playing it.

In this video the art gallery owner and the muralist explain the work and ask people to come down and get their picture taken underneath it.
