The Beatles Saturday Morning Cartoon
From 1965 to 1969 The Beatles had a Saturday Morning Cartoon. The episodes are about five and a half minutes long and have The Beatles trying to practice a song and being held up. The Show is famous a little extra bit because it was the first animated weekly show to depict living characters. Schweet. The Beatles did not provide the voices for The Show and the imitations are not spot on. The episode for "A Hard Days Night" has John, Paul, George, and Ringo trek to a Haunted Castle to practice. Wacky Haunted Castle things ensue. Like a Skull Drum. And a Ghost Sheet.
When The Show came out each Beatle got animated for his own poster.
My favorite Beatles song is "Eight Days a Week". The episode for "Eight Days a Week" is great. Paul gets romantically involved with a Movie Producer/Gangster's Girl.
Also, did you know "Sweet Caroline" is about Caroline Kennedy? It is.

Is Christina Hendricks going to be the next Bond Girl?
No, probably not. Christina Hendricks was in a commercial with 007 in 1997 though. Her character is working in Q's warehouse and asks 007 for his ID. She looks young.

Queen Madge hates Hydrangeas, ok?!
Divas usually make their mark with outlandish clothes, hair, shoes and behavior. Once established that behavior or look eventually becomes ordinary to us. At this point Gaga wearing pants is more interesting than Gaga naked. And this may not be the moment to say this, but I was completely captivated by Lady Gaga's performance at the VMAs monologue included. If you haven't watched it, get on it now, because that is commitment to a performance and she is absolutely a genius.
That being said it's kind of refreshing to see Madonna using her status as a queen diva by doing something rude and having people love it. For example, whispering in a fake British accent about hating the kind of flowers some fan just gave you, next to a microphone.
And then, after getting a lot of press about this, she posted an apology. Or did she?
That's my girl.
Also, another way to be a diva: Stand still and bring the house down. Observe:

Even More Exciting British News
The UK is exciting, especially these last couple weeks. Posh and Becks added beautiful daughter Harper Seven to their unfairly good looking family and The News of the World put out its last issue on July 10th. Hugh Grant took down News of the World. On July 28th the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London were a year away, as of today we are 348 out. The London Riots started on August 6th following a march protesting the death of Mark Duggan. Austin Powers 4 was announced on August 12th, yeah baby.
This is the best picture from the London Riots. A hooligan trying to kick a Bobbie in the Johnson.
This picture from the London Riots is crazy.

Rockstars die at 27
When Amy Winehouse was found dead today, after gasping aloud, our first thought was "Was she 27?" because rockstars die when they are 27.
No one sings Summertime better than "Janis Joplin," with a little help from Jimi.
I can't think of a Doors song I don't like; everyone loves "Alabama Song," obviously.
I always knew I liked Nirvana, as far back as I can remember. I could only get to them through the radio for the longest time. Until I finally got a hold of their greatest hits album freshman year of high school. My favorite song is "Lithium."
And ever a rockstar, Amy has joined the infamous 27 club. It's songs like "Me and Mr Jones" that make me really sad about this.

Pottermore: more of what exactly?
By now you've probably heard about Pottermore, JK Rowling's latest project. It was shrouded in mystery and steeped in anticipation and now that we know what it is, we still don't really know what it is.
According to the site: "Pottermore is a free website that builds an exciting online experience around the reading of the Harry Potter books."
According to JK herself:
But what does all the mean? Here's what we know:
-The site goes public in the fall, for now you can submit your e-mail address and wait
-UNLESS you get selected to be in the preview stage this summer
-Pottermore will have the only way to get official digital e-books and audio books of Harry Potter
-The books will release one at a time, will gaps between them
-Some content will be user generated, hopefully more stuff like the awesome curling paper in the above video
-Rowling will use the site to share more secrets of Harry Potter, like Dumbledore being gay, etc.
I submitted my e-mail address. You probably should too. And if anyone gets in the site this summer, TELL US!
There's also a twitter account that is spewing updates. Apparently the first three chapters are going into preview tomorrow. And on July 31st, aka Harry's birthday, they're will be an opportunity to win early access.
Also JK Rowling is the most powerful person in the world that she can get people jazzed up about three chapters from a book that came out 14 years ago.

The Royal Wedding is only two weeks away!
While looking in on the latest news about the wedding I came across a jelly bean that looks just like the future Princess William.
I also came across the short list of the BP Portrait Award, a contest that happens every year, awarding the top prize to the best portrait of the year.
My favorite to win is named Holly, and she is defs NSFW.

Spaghetti doesn't grow on trees
You've probably realized it's April Fool's Day. Perhaps you've been inundated with prank attempts. Maybe it was TKM's not-birthday or Gmail Motion made you consider clearing a four foot space around your desk (my dad was totally fooled). Perhaps an enthusiastic French teacher taught you about how April first is Poisson d'Avril or Fish of April in which all the jokes involve fish, so you've been noticing fish everywhere.
My favorite kind of April Fool's prank is fake news. I came across the first TV news April Fool's prank. In 1957 the BBC aired this news clip (don't mind the ten seconds of black at the beginning):
Apparently at the time in the UK spaghetti was considered pretty exotic, so people didn't know it didn't grow on trees and the BBC received a boatload of calls asking where to buy a spaghetti tree.
I wish spaghetti grew on trees, that'd be awesome.

another amazing video, courtesy of James Stuart Bergin's facebook page. I'm so thankful every day that my family is on the book.
I'm currently on holiday at Oxford University visiting one of my besties from Wellesley, and we both found this incredibly amusing.

Superman is a babe, and a Brit.
In the year of super hero reboots, there has been some speculation about who will be cast as the new superman. Many people called for Jon Hamm, though the actor said throughout that he is too old to be Clark Kent.
It was announced today that Henry Cavill has been cast as Superman.
You may have never heard of him. He played Henry VIII's bff in the excellent series, The Tudors, which you should definitely check out. Also in the past few years he has narrowly missed several high profile parts. He lost on Batman to Christian Bale, Bond to Daniel Craig (too young), Twilight author Stephanie Meyer named him as her first choice for Edward Cullen (too old), and was a front runner for Superman the last time around when it went to Brandon Routh.
Add Cavill to a story by Christopher Nolan and screenplay from the writer for Batman Begins and there's a good chance this movie is going to be sweet.
Also catch Cavill in Immortals, Greek myth epic coming this fall. He worked out for this one:

p.s. this means that the current Spiderman, Batman, and Superman all hail from the British Isles.
