How I Feel About Kid Rock

I like Kid Rock. You like Kid Rock. Because everyone likes Kid Rock. Because of the song "Picture". Everyone likes the song "Picture" by Kid Rock featuring Sheryl Crow. If you do not like the song "Picture" it is because you have not heard the song "Picture" by Kid Rock featuring Sheryl Crow. And if thats the case watch the video right down there. Otherwise I like his version of Feel Like Makin' Love better. "All Summer Long" is maybe the most listen-to-able song ever. "Born Free" is a good song. On the first episode of The Sheild when Vic shoots that guy and "Bawitdaba" is playing it was definately the most intense television I had seen at that point. Because of Kid Rock. I like Kid Rock. And so do you, probably, if not watch this video of "Picture" by Kid Rock featuring Sheryl Crow.

The Twinkie Defense

After Dan White assassinated Harvey Milk on November 27, 1978 his Lawyers successfully used "The Twinkie Defense" to get Dan White out of jail in a little more than five years.

Dan White's Lawyers explained to The Jurors that the night before The Murders (Dan White also killed the San Fransisco mayor in the same spree that left Harvey Milk dead) Dan White had ate a Large Amount of  Twinkies. Because, The Lawyers explained, Dan White usually kept an extremely healthy diet the Large Amount of Twinkies had diminished his capacity. That is The Twinkie Defense. Eat too many Twinkies and kill two people.

JFK Death Day

I know very little about JFK and have done no additional research

Today is probably the 48th anniversary of what definitely is the day that John Fitzgerald Kennedy who was probably our 33rd President was shot in Dallas. Jackie O was definitely in the car which was a convertible. Either her dress was pink and the car was 50s blue or versa vice. Harvey Lee Oswald probably didnt act alone in the shooting of JFK.

Other than the shooting: JFK was sickly in some way. JFK was a babe magnet who didnt wear a hat to his innaugeration. The K family made their money in the depression by either selling oil or coal. JFK had an older brother who was being groomed to do all the stuff JFK did then the brother died in WW2. JFK asked what we could do for the country. JFK is on the Half Dollar Coin.

Kim Jong Il Looking at Paula Deen Riding Things

Have you guys checked out the Kim Jong Il Looking at Things blog or the Paula Deen Riding Things blog? Well, my friend Darcy combined the elements to create a fantastic specimen of a blog entitled Kim Jong Il Looking at Paula Deen Riding Things, and I like it.

Kim Jong Il watching Paula Deen ride donuts into a fryer
I thought I would like to share it with all of you, especially since it has been a while since I've surfaced on Edzachery. Blame the #Wellesleyblues.

(sidenote: I just realized how amazing that hashtag is, as Wellesley's mascot is the color blue. Is it lame how excited I am by the revolutionary discovery of such an amazing hashtag to use for the last five months of my Wellesley life?)

Darcy is also an expert in all things cute, including my little pony renditions of Stephen Sondheim songs including a parody of "Putting it Together" from Sunday in the Park with George and my personal favorite "At the Gala" which is in fact a take on "Ever After", from Into the Woods.

She just introduced me to Cuteroulette.com which is almost too much for me to handle.

Just felt like giving y'all a glimpse into some of the classy ways in which we Wellesley ladies spent our late nights finishing those essays.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

If you've taken Psych 100 and this is old news to you, I apologize. Last week, some article made an off hand reference to the Myers-Brigg Type Indicator assessment. Being an Senser (more on that later), I did some research. It's basically an assessment that measures psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. And using a free online knock off version, I got results that kind of blew me away. Apparently it's the most widely used personality test in the world and I've been living under a rock.

Four days later, eight people were sitting around a kitchen table taking the test, sharing results and then reading the wikipedia page for each person's results. And we still haven't stopped talking about it.

So if you're interested, take the test here, and then you can go to wikipedia and put in your 4-letter results and get all sorts of information about it. And if you'd like to post your results in the comments, feel free. I've been speculating about everyone I know, and I'd love to know how my perception lines up with your results. So far only two people have had the same type.

Want more info? As an ESFJ (Provider), I'm happy to help. Read on!

The test is based on the idea of 4 pairs of dichotomies, or opposing psychological preferences, which makes for a possible 16 types. The terms have specific meanings to this test which may differ from their everyday usage.

Some of these descriptions are a bit judge-y, which is off-base, but I thought it was somewhat helpful as a visual.

 1. extraversion/introversion (E/I)
People who prefer extraversion draw energy from action: they tend to act, then reflect, then act further. Conversely, those who prefer introversion expend energy through action: they prefer to reflect, then act, then reflect again.

2. sensing/intuition (S/N)
Sensing and intuition are the information-gathering (perceiving) functions. They describe how new information is understood and interpreted. Individuals who prefer sensing are more likely to trust information that is in the present, tangible and concrete: that is, information that can be understood by the five senses. On the other hand, those who prefer intuition tend to trust information that is more abstract or theoretical, that can be associated with other information (either remembered or discovered by seeking a wider context or pattern)

3.thinking/feeling (T/F)

Thinking and feeling are the decision-making functions. Those who prefer thinking tend to decide things from a more detached standpoint, measuring the decision by what seems reasonable, logical, causal, consistent and matching a given set of rules. Those who prefer feeling tend to come to decisions by associating or empathizing with the situation, looking at it 'from the inside' and weighing the situation to achieve, on balance, the greatest harmony, consensus and fit, considering the needs of the people involved.

4. judgment/perception (J/P)
Judgment and perception reflect the implementation of the above preferences. Those who favor judgment prefer a planned or orderly way of life, like to have things settled and organized, feel more comfortable when decisions are made, and like to bring life under control as much as possible. Those who favor perception prefer a flexible and spontaneous way of life, and like to understand and adapt to the world rather than organize it.

Happy introspection!

Ned Kelly's Last Wish

Ned Kelly is the Australian Jesse James. Ned Kelly was born in June of either 1854 or 1855. He definitely died November 11, 1880. Ned Kelly was hung at the Old Melbourne Gaol, gaol being Australian for jail, and his last wish was to be buried in his family graveyard. To this the Aussies running The Gaol said things to the effect of "No" "No way mate" and "Not on my Barbie" and proceeded to throw Ned Kelly's body in a mass grave they had going at The Gaol.  Last year Ned Kelly's body was identified and just this last week Anthony Griffiths, Ned Kelly's Grand-Nephew, was granted permission to exhume and rebury Ned Kelly. Sometimes you need 131 years to make a wish come true.

Also, Ned Kelly has the best hair in history.

Great Band

There is this great band called Real Fire that my friend is in who is the drummer. They have a great sound and they do fucking great covers like this one of Adeles' rolling in the deep.

They've been playing at my BBQ for the last few years and I feel like they are starting to get some traction going so do myself and them a favor and check out their youtube channel, like the videos and if you really like them follow them on twitter.

p.s. this is a little incentive to those of you who have heard/been invited to my Memorial day weekend BBQ's but have been hesitant to come.

Endangered Flying Rinos

I came across these pictures today and had to share. They look fake right? Apparently they're real, documenting the transportation of 19 critically-endangered black rhinos to a secret new location (away from poachers). They're sleeping, and this is supposed to be the most humane way of transporting the rhinos since they have to be tranquilized for a shorter period of time than they would in a truck.

Plus it's bad ass! I hope these guys like their new spot, Wikipedia tells me there are only around 4,000 black rhinos left in the world.

Dude-Bros Getting Scared

Those of us in the East may have had part or all of our Halloween festivities cancelled due to that totally unexpected and super abnormal snowstorm last week. I've been hearing some resentment from the injured parties, so please allow me to cheer you up with these amazing pictures of dudes in a haunted house getting the bro scared out of them.

Blond Fear

Hoodie Fear

The scariest part is that the two on the left are the same age.
The rest of this awesome collection is here. The dudes flying solo in the haunted house were too sad for me to post. But they are hilarious.

New Jersey

So, I'm from NJ. Sometimes it really blows, like when EVERYONE makes fun of me for it.

But uh, honestly its really not that bad. As a matter of fact, I have the best fall of everyone. Don't beleive me? I get to eat apple cider hot dogs and cider baked beans every Sunday at 3 of the farms that surround my house.

This summer, my neighbor Paul asked MikePirog and I to watch his video. We didn't know what he meant. Then we did. Keep in mind, this guy and I are neighbors.

Please to enjoy.
