How I Saved Christmas

How I Saved Christmas, a totally true tale

This Christmas AM, we woke with the dog
licking our feet for a quick morning jog.
MP and I exchanged presents with glee,
Winner: Dawson's Creek, Complete Series on DVD.

We packed up the car with goodies and presents,
And headed to Montville for the day's events.
With five minutes left on our journey, we crossed
a state road intersection, and saw it - lost.

A wandering dog in the middle of the street,
(If he's stray, we can't fit him in the backseat!)
We got out of the car, on the side of the road,
And over to us, he gingerly strode.

It was obvi he had run through the nearby river,
He was soaking wet and his whole body shivered.
I pet him a bit, then looked at his collar.
"Thank God," I thought. "What's the number?" Mike hollered.

The owner was on his way over right now,
so I went in the car and got him some chow.
Within ten minutes, a red truck pulled up
with three small children, pining for the pup.

A Dad got out and told us he had run
away Christmas Eve (they'd all cried a ton).
He thanked us for calling, and then drove away,
the dog and the kids in the back all the way.

We continued our Christmas and had a good night,
Grateful that dog ended up alright.
The moral of the story? In case you missed this:
Help out stray dogs - especially on Christmas.

Drunk History of Christmas

As a special holiday treat for Plus1Press, the powers that be have combined two of our very favorite things: Ryan Gosling and Drunk History.

I haven't watched this yet, because I can't get caught watching a five minute video and giggling at the job that I like, but I can write a fast sneaky blog post while giggling on the inside.

But I'm sure it's great.

Home Made Hot Pockets

I love Meatball & Mozzerella and Ham & Cheese Hot Pockets. I remember back in the day KV bought a big box of the Meatball & Mozzerella that he was planning on stretching out and having for breakfast for the next long period of time, this was a BJ's size box, and I took advantage of there being something quick and delicious in my moms kitchen for the first time ever and promptly ate them all in a glorious fatty fat kid weekend. THEN I had a Hot Pocket fresh out the Toaster Oven and it was like "Hello World, nice to meet you" crispy flaky outside and all Hot and Ham & Cheesy inside. Ideally when trying to speed cook a Hot Pocket while still having it taste as delicious as possible, obviously, you want to microwave the Hot Pocket for about a minute and then take it to the Toaster Oven and toast it on the more than medium brown setting. It'll be life affirming. OR you can made your own Home Made Hot Pockets using this recipe.

Ingredients:
1 Package of Croissants
8 Slices of Ham
8 Slices of American Cheese

Steps:
-Preheat your oven to 350
-Open the Croissants

The Notebook Musical - This is Happening

omg guys, Nicholas Sparks, author of the Notebook and million other books designed to drag tears out of you, was on The Early Show yesterday and suddenly in the middle of talking about his latest soon to be in grocery stores everywhere paperback, the host just said "So 'The Notebook' is going to Broadway" and he just said "Yes" like this isn't news.

Well Mr. Sparks, this IS news. Not only is the book-turned movie being adapted for the stage, it's being adapted as a musical! So in the not too distant future, rain will pour on a bearded RyGos wannabe while he sing-fight-kisses the next Lea Michele in front of a packed house of Midwestern tourists. I don't know if I'm horrified or hypnotized by that idea.

In conclusion, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams are the reigning champions of the MTV Movie Awards Best Kissed Acceptance, so suck it Twi-hards.

ps. UPDATE: It turns out this musical was presented as a work-in-progress two years ago, and the music will be war-time era american standard and swing, bluegrass, and gospel. Also, one of the composers is the girl One Tree Hill who always sings. Leaning more towards horror. but still pretty hypnotized. Here's the official website: The Notebook Musical

Spotify

So, I'm sure we're all familiar to the genius that is Pandora.
I present to you: Pandora's hot cousin.

Differences: Its Pandora but you can PICK the songs in your playlists, including music you don't own. So, basically its a shit ton of free music that you can create playlists for. And as long as you have an internet connection, you can access your playlists anywhere. I do this often for work.

Unfortunately, you cannot download the music for free. So, making CDs or playing it in your car is impossible. But, at your desk, at home - its all free.

EVERY Madonna album ever made? Make it a playlist.
Soundtracks from all 3 Twilight movies? Playlist.
ANY song that contains the word "Circus"? PLAYLIST!

Endless possibilities.

Enjoy and Happy Holidays,
fisticuffs
